Do not give me a holy book give me a holy sandwich by Gunsmithcat Do not give me a holy book give me a holy sandwich by Gunsmithcat
This work is a critic about religious establishment who use religion all around they find misery to get more believers. This people don't need a holy book, don't need a fake God, don't need a fake hope. This people need a real hope, a real education, they need schools, FOOD, medicines, preservatives...They need a real future, not a fake truth.

Excuse me...your arts are interesting but don't pls don't say that God is fake or something like that...It just make some people feel more uncomfortable...If he was fake we wouldn't be here in this world...If you have God by your side nothing is impossible.

I'd rather think God was fake and people were starving, than think God existed and allowed this suffering.

People has free will to chose their own path....God will only bless if they ask him to do...Because God is very respectful...God respect the man kind way....So that means they already chose thier own path...and it is to not ask God for help....

Agreed 100%.

This portrays it beautifully, with all the funding they have for these faith-mongering trips, they could be spending it on actually helping these people, not just 'praying' that things will get better for them.

It hurts to imagine how easily we could be helping thousands of these people with that kind of funding..

Skipping over that these 'Religious Establishments' raise millions of dollars every year to feed and cloth said people while  people like you for example whine and complain about it because they're religious.  And you made... a pretty picture... good for you. i'm sure that'll help said people out just as well...

Good lord you're like a mewling 14 year old child with a Facebook account.

Religion is a double-edged sword for sure. I think religion is okay as long as you also remember to use your brain. Some people blindly rely on the Bible, like those fanatics who forbid condoms and other birth control products because God told us to have children, fill the earth with people and blah blah blah... well, they should consider that there were only two people in the world back then and now there are 7 billion. It's way too much.

Do they think God is a robot? FILL THE EARTH, FILL THE EARTH, FILL THE EARTH!!!
If there is God, I think he'd say "enough".

And what kind of God is he if he represses women and forbid laughter and dancing for example?

Of course Religous Establishments' work matter but to really make a difference we should provide them more than just the Bible. Africans need proper education (including sex ed classes!!!) Not just food and clothes. Investing in education and equality and birth control we kill two birds with one stone and then hopefully they won't need our help anymore.

Well okay. Why don't they work? Perhaps because they're malnourished and have no energy to work?

Then why don't priests work instead of getting paid for talking?

It depends on the denomination of the priest.
In Australia a Roman Catholic Priest is provided with free accommodation and food. On top of this they receive a small stipend of about $11000 per year so that they can provide for personal items, save for holidays etc.
An Anglican Priest would be generally provided with a residence for which they would pay a subsidsed rent. They pay for their own food etc. As a result they are paid a salary closer (but still less than) the average workers salary. Currently approximately $47000 - this isn't much when you consider most Anglican priests are married and have children.

Spreading BS, you gotta have a great way with words to convince a large amount of supposed believers (put them to the test first I say)  btw SolidSnake why doesn't the bible talk about when Jesus did dumb shit at his younger days. One could learn from that you know

Let's say I give him a sandwich, what happens? He eats it and tomorrow he asks me for another one. I think that first of all they should stop saying "give me" and learn that food doesn't fall from the sky on parachutes with a red cross but is produced on a farm where someone has to work. Nobody ever gave me a free sandwich, if I want to eat, I have to do something for it.

At least he will have the strength to ask you for another sandwich tomorrow... after all, people who die from starvation cannot read Scripture.

And is that what we want? What happens the day after tomorrow? The same thing? And then the same until I run out of sandwiches? Or are we just going to hope that white people will make new sandwiches faster than black people make new kids?

"And is that what we want?"

...What, dying from starvation or asking for another sandwich?

"
And then the same until I run out of sandwiches?"

Maybe, while helping feed them, you can teach them to make sandwiches. People don't learn in a vacuum.

"What, dying from starvation or asking for another sandwich?"

There are 6 continents on the Earth (excluding Antarctica), how come that 5 of them aren't dying from starvation and don't have to ask others for anything? What if there's a 3rd option, for example producing their own food?

"Maybe, while helping feed them, you can teach them to make sandwiches. People don't learn in a vacuum."
Where did Europeans learn how to make their sandwiches? Or Americans? Or Asians? Even animals know how to find food without anyone teaching them.

Just saying, Africa has a *lot* of arable land. If you know what you're doing, you can do very well. Fact is, thanks to all the repressive governments (or lack thereof and instead oppressive warlords), mental development's too stunted and there's no education infrastructure, so no one really knows what they're doing.

Another person who hates God, eh? What if I told you that many of the people who go visit those people give up their homes in America to give those people all the things you said they need plus the word of God. This life isn't about deeds, as those can never make up for our flaws, but about service. We do it out of respect for God's will.

Also I agree with NinthTome for the most part. Most people on TV asking for donations will keep 80% or more of what's donated, and do minimally beneficial or completely worthless actions with the rest.

Lastly, as I'm likely standing in the middle of the lion's den, attacks will not surprise me. There will be no reply if it's just unfounded hate, but I will discuss things under a levelheaded tone.

"This life isn't about deeds, as those can never make up for our flaws, but about service. We do it out of respect for God's will."

The reason why Christians have such a bad rep nowadays is because many of those people have "gave up their homes in America" wound up leading to intolerance and openly murderous homophoba in places like Nigera, looking to spread doctrine rather than goodwill.

If you ask me, Protestantism is the worst thing to happen to Christianity, as it led to people who started to believe you could be a good Christian just by having "the most faith" and not actually *doing good deeds.* The person who claims to be a soldier of Jesus, dedicates their life to Jesus, and all they do is watch Glenn Beck and the Bible Channel and buy crucifixes isn't a Christian, they're just a tool who might as well be Winston Smith.
